HI, FRIEND!

Black Tie Bonnet House Wedding | Raleigh Wedding Photographer

Jul 7, 2022

My siblings and I grew up very close to our parents, aunts, and uncles. A lot of who I am today is because of the way we were raised. A highlight of this wedding celebration was the intimacy Mariam and Brooks share with their family. They chose to allow room for special moments between family members, so they could have extra time and be honored the day of. After a reveal with her bridesmaids, Mariam had a special reveal with another woman in her life… her mother-in-law. It was so special to see the excitement between the two of them. Even more special were the tender moments between Mariam and her father, right before she left the hotel to meet her groom. I did not have a dry eye. Brooks honored his dad by having him right by his side at the altar as he married Mariam. His father stood there gleaming with pride.

After the ceremony, Mariam changed up her outfit by removing her custom lace top that was styled over her wedding dress. Removing the lace piece gave her attire a more flirty and fun look for her reception. The couple drove to their reception in a classic Rolls Royce. There were many special details on this day, but this one, in particular, was the perfect photo-op as Brooks led his wife to the reception. We are fans of classic cars in your portraits. As the guests entered the reception, they found their seats at one of the beautifully adorned tables under the tent at the Bonnet House. It was truly a remarkable event!

Mariam & Brooks’ designed their wedding to reflect traditions, and their two cultures becoming one. The result was a warm and welcoming reception space! Mariam’s family is Persian and they set up a Sofreh Aghd table at the reception. The Sofreh Aghd is a traditional wedding ceremony spread where legal marriage and ceremonial traditions are exchanged. The Sofreh is covered with many ornamental items that represent all of the things they hope to bring into their new lives together. I appreciated the needle and thread symbolizing the rituals of two families becoming one.

Mariam & Brooks, thanks for including us in your wedding celebration! What a gift to experience the love you share between the two of you and your families. We wish you all the best in your marriage and future!
