This beautiful day began with Grace getting ready with her bridesmaids in her childhood home. It was so sweet. Her bridesmaids danced around together out of pure excitement, they did a catwalk practice to teach the flower girls how to walk down the aisle and were just incredibly happy just being together in Grace’s home. We took so many group shots because they were just so joyful to be hanging out with each other. When Grace slipped away to change into her wedding dress, I spotted a dollhouse. I asked her mother about it, and she told me that was the dollhouse that Grace used to play with for hours growing up. It was still set up in her bedroom like no time had passed. One of my favorite moments from that morning was seeing Grace meet her daddy. She had just finished getting ready and she walked downstairs to meet him. He was waiting for her in the living room, in front of the mantle. YOU GUYS, his face when he saw her was one of pure love and excitement! You know I teared up a little bit.
Felix was so sweet and tender toward Grace all day. Portraits between the two of them were a delight with him being just so romantic. During the toast, one of Felix’s groomsmen talked about how no girl could settle him down until he met Grace. Everything changed when she came into his life. Their entire wedding day felt like a celebration! Their live band kept the dancefloor packed with hardly any space for me to roam around with my camera! I may have even danced a bit with a bridesmaid 😉
This wedding day was especially memorable to me because it was Kim’s first wedding day as Associate Photographer! She shadowed and trained alongside Wayne! She was SO helpful, we didn’t have to ask her to do anything. Most of the time, she was already in the middle of assisting with the need! Such a blessing! Plus, she was really great at meeting the guests and becoming friends with the vendors. I couldn’t be prouder! It was such a sweet confirmation from God that her joining our team was His perfect plan.
What were two of your favorite moments from the day and why?
Grace – Walking down the aisle with my dad and his father of the bride speech.
Felix – Nailing the first dance that we had been practicing
What were some of the most meaningful or special parts of your ceremony? The pastor who married us had baptized me when I was a little girl. My 93-year-old grandmother (my last living grandparent) was able to walk down the aisle – my brother and my cousin also got married in 2018 (November and August respectively), and she was in all 3! Felix’s two nephews and best friend’s son and his other best friend’s three daughters were our ring bearers and flower girls. My cousin, who is a performer on Broadway, sang a Gershwin song during the ceremony.
What was your design inspiration for your wedding? What themes or elements did you follow? We wanted something classic and timeless. Lots of whites and greens with a touch of gold accents.
What was your favorite detail from your wedding? Maybe not my favorite, but the one I worked the most on was our table numbers. I had pictures of both Félix and I at every age that represented that table number.
What advice would you give to someone currently planning a wedding? We had a long engagement – over a year – which I ended up really appreciating. We could do bite sizes of planning over time and never felt too overwhelmed. Do the big things way in advance – venue, band/DJ, photographer, videographer.
