Rhen + Elmer’s love story is a story of two people widowed by their first loves and then through the grace of God found each other.

Their wedding day rolled around and unfortunately, the clouds and rain rolled in just as quickly. That didn’t stop their children and family from hustling to prepare the perfect day for these two lovers. Fun fact: together they have 9 children and 11 grandchildren. So much family to love! It was very important to Rhen & Elmer that each child and grandchild have a part to play in their special day. All of the children helped set up and coordinate their wedding logistics. They were bringing in food, setting tables, ironing clothes, drying the chairs that had gotten rained on, and so much more. Elmer’s son stood up next to him as his best man. Rhen’s daughters were all present as she got ready for the day. One of her daughters even helped her with her makeup. It was incredibly sweet.

These two had previously decided to have their first look under the big oak trees on the property. They did not let the weather stop them from meeting each other under the oak tree. You will see from the photos how joyfully and excitedly Rhen approached him. It was such a romantic scene, the two of them standing underneath the branches of this oak tree as the rain fell. How poetic to meet under that oak tree as they are a symbol of strength and endurance, something both of them represent after losing their dearest loves.

How blessed they are to have had not one but two great loves on this earth.
