Intentional photographs that are joyful, emotional and timeless. Let's create something beautiful together.

HI, FRIEND!

2019 – End of the Year Review!

Jan 6, 2020

Creating this post made me really emotional. Looking back on the year left me overwhelmed with gratefulness for all of the things! I cried, you guys. I cried thinking about all of the beautiful moments the Lord allowed me to witness and capture. It also made me emotional thinking about all of the people that have done this alongside me. Being a wedding photographer, like any job, has its high moments and its low moments. This year was not without challenges or tears. In between all of these photographs are a lot of behind the scenes doubt, fear, and sleepless nights. But it has been SO life-giving. I have been witness to so many moments that have left me worshipping my Creator. I GET TO do this. Praise the Lord, I love my job.

Here are a few highlights from the past year:

  • Kim ran our mini sessions for the first time! She directed and photographed 14 back to back sessions. This meant a lot to me, as I have been photographing some of these families for several years, from engagements to children! It was really reassuring to see her attentive care for these families and even hear many families mention they were returning in 6 months bc it was that fun! So grateful!
  • Traveled to San Francisco twice for shoots… while pregnant! I got to work alongside Emily again and assist her in some of my favorite styled shoots to date.
  • Molliner Photography got published 14 times! Ashley worked hard to keep us on schedule, get couple/vendor information and find the best matches for our couple’s weddings/engagement stories.
  • I hustled hard and took maternity leave as the team ran the MP office. We did a lot of work beforehand to manage expectations, prepare clients and vendors and FINISH ALL OF MY EDITING QUEUE. This was so great for me mentally and physically after having baby number two! Knowing I had a team that was effectively running the company without pause was such a blessing.
  • Kim’s first associate wedding under Molliner Photography took place! It couldn’t have been a more sweet and welcoming couple. They allowed her the freedom to make the hard calls and trusted her guidance as she served them.
  • I was stretched in leadership, as I navigated a full year with a team of 5. Managing a team has given me more awareness of my responsibility towards discipleship in the way that I manage. This has opened up my heart towards the way Jesus served.
  • I got to shoot at my bucket list venue TWICE – Vizcaya Museum and Gardens was one of my dream venues to shoot at.
  • I  learned how to better capture joyful emotion in film. Film has allowed me to be more intentional in each photograph, as I have to slow down. Because of this slowing down for the shot, I felt like it wasn’t possible to capture reactions like laughter or movement. My friend Emily and I challenged ourselves and found ways to create authentic reactions, joy, and movement all while shooting in film. I felt like I achieved that in a lot of my work this year. Look at all of this JOY! Yes, yes, yesss!
  • My favorite moment I saw God working, was my first wedding back from maternity leave. It was a crazy double wedding weekend in separate cities. When Wayne transitioned out of his second shooter position, I grieved letting go of being understood by my second shooter (I give a lot of nonverbal cues). As my husband, Wayne can read a situation and know exactly what I need or feel before I can voice it or even know it myself. I never expected to feel that way again with another shooter, until the Lord, in His kindness, gave me that feeling with Kim that first wedding back. I felt that was the Lord supplying abundantly more than what I asked for or expected.

I am so grateful for every couple that invited our team into your stories and lives this year! What a year!

Great things He has done!
