I’ve had the pleasure of photographing Ashley and Nathan since 2014. These two have given me the honor of documenting so many moments in the legacy they are building with their family. We became friends during their engagement session. Since then we’ve celebrated a wedding, graduations, extended family sessions, and next up, TWINS! Even better than photographing their life celebrations, I’ve been had the pleasure of being invited into their lives as friends.
For their maternity session, Ashley selected a quiet St Augustine beach because it painted the perfect picture they had in their head from their memories in Hawaii. They were unable to travel to Hawaii in 2020, so they decided they could recreate memories from Hawaii while making new memories together in St Augustine.
The waves were wild this afternoon. At one point, a wave crashed on the rocks unexpectedly as they were having a “moment”. Ocean water splashed everywhere and it led to the best laughter behind the scenes of a shot. It also resulted in a good amount of post-production to edit the water stains out of their clothes.
After the shoot, Ashley was having a craving, so we stopped by A1A Burrito Works. They insisted that I order the California Burrito. In all seriousness, that burrito changed my life.
