Sian & Blake- some of the kindest people around. Add in their family & friends & it was hard for the day to anything short of a blast. How can an event not be good when its hosted at the Bellemoor Plantation! This venue sits on 44 acres of land, which makes it a photographer’s dream! So many pockets of yummy light & photo goodness! Speaking of yummy light, that photo above is one of my favorite images from this year. I love the look of this film shot of Sian and Blake kissing on the dance floor. They had just finished their first dance under the prettiest outdoor chandelier and the sun was setting, offering a pretty glow behind them.
There were two unique things that I loved about this wedding:
- Sian and Blake carried the southern tradition and buried bourbon a month before the wedding. They chose to bury at bottle of bourbon at the same spot that they said their vows. Southern folklore say that if you bury the bourbon exactly one month before your wedding day, that it will ensure a day without rain. Folklore or not, the weather couldn’t have been better when these two promised each other forever.
- Sian asked her florist to included a pink king protea flower in her bouquet. While this flower is ABSOLUTELY stunning, it is the national flower for South Africa, where Sian and her family are from. They moved to the states when she was 14 years old but including the flower in her bouquet was a small tribute to her homeland. She carried it in her bouquet as carry it along with her for all of the relatives that couldn’t make the trip.
What an honor it was to tell this story!
