“I love you, not only for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you. I love you, not only for what you have made of yourself, but for what you are making of me. I love you for the part of me that you bring out; I love you for putting your hand into my heaped-up heart and passing over all the foolish, weak things that you can’t help dimly seeing there, and for drawing out into the light all the beautiful belongings that no one else had looked quite far enough to find.”

Julie + Jon’s whimsical winter wedding, was a dream. This adorable couple is intentional, kind and oh so much fun! We were so honored to be a part of this amazing day. Julie and Jon, we wish you a million years of joy and adventure together!
What were two of your favorite moments from the day and why? Groom: Our “first look”. Initially, I was against the idea of a first look, but I must say it was truly my favorite moment of the entire day. It was very special to have a moment with my soon to be bride to just take a deep breath and embrace each other. I will never forget that moment.
Bride: Our ceremony; we have been a part of each other’s lives for 10+ years. It took time and hard to work to get to where we are today and I wouldn’t change any of it. Our ceremony is something we both spent a lot of time working on together and deciding what best represented the two of us as a couple. Being able to say our vows in front of our family and friends and a Pastor that really helped guide us through this journey is something I will always be thankful for. My other favorite moment was our reception “first look”; it was the first time Jon and I were alone after becoming husband and wife and I remember becoming overwhelmed with emotion. Everything looked so beautiful and being able to take a few minutes with my husband to soak it all in meant so much to me.
Tell us about your flowers and the arrangements. I absolutely love flowers so deciding on what to do was a really big deal. To fit with the “winter whimsical” feel we went with all white flowers with greenery and a lot of candlelight. I fell in love with something called wax flower and lush garden roses. I wanted the tables in the reception to be full but not large so small vessels were used on the kings tables while mixing in pillar candles and votives.
What was your favorite detail about your wedding day and why? As funny as this may sound, I have to say our placecards/take home gift. We are that couple. That’s borderline obsessed with their dog (ok, 100% obsessed). I knew our sweet Zoey wouldn’t be a part of our big day, but I wanted to incorporate her in any way I could. I also knew I wanted part of our take home gift to be a magnet because Jon travels a lot and every time he comes home from someplace new, he brings me a magnet (it’s the little things). I searched everywhere for figurines that looked like Westies or even a Terrier and kept coming up short. Jon had the idea of making them ourselves with a 3D printer at work. Once he printed them, I spray painted them gold and added magnets on the back. We keep an extra on our fridge and it still makes me smile when I see it.
What advice would you give to couples planning their day? Don’t let the pressure of social media weigh you down. It is so nice to have access to so many beautiful photos of options but it can become totally consuming. Remember this day is about you marrying the love of your life and no matter how your pinterest worthy ideas turn out. You just said ‘I do’ to forever, that is what matters and it’s so exciting!
