Meet Will + Kait.
They wed at the Baughman Center on UF Campus. They fell in love with the stunning architecture of the building, and knew they had to get married there. It definitely set the vibe for their overall wedding day aesthetics. One unique part of their day, was the fact that they chose not to have the traditional bridal party. They knew they wanted to avoid the possible stress of having to select bridal party attire, or choosing one friend over another to stand beside them. Instead, they each invited their friends to wear whatever they felt most comfortable in. These dear friends were still able to join them in celebrating this important day and all the normal bridal party activities, but without all the unnecessary stress. This also meant that the entire focus was on Will + Kait as they stood at the altar and vowed to spend forever with each other. [as their photographer, you know I LOVED this!!]
Will + Kait, I’m so excited for all the Lord has in store for you. I’m so humbled you choose me to document your beautiful and reverent wedding celebration! Cheers to you both!
Tell us about finding your wedding dress. I knew this was my dress from the moment I saw it, but being budget conscious bride, I decided to borrow a friend’s dress instead. Months before the wedding I got a surprise package in the mail – it was THE dress! My two best friends bought me my dream dress and to this day, I still cannot believe they did. They are the most beautiful girls inside & out and I couldn’t be more blessed to call them my best friends. [CAN Y’ALL BELIEVE THIS?!? CAN YOU GET SWEETER OR MORE GENEROUS FRIENDS?]
Did you have something borrowed, blue, old, and new?
Blue – Will’s mom and I made my veil which was incredibly special. We sewed a blue ‘W+K’ inside of the veil.
Old / Borrowed – My mom’s earrings.
New – My dress, thanks to my sweet friends!
Tell us about your flowers and the arrangements. I wanted everything to be simple and clean. Betsy at The Plante Shoppe really brought this vision to life. My favorite floral detail was my goddaughter’s precious headband. Betsy was also able to donate our flowers to a local charity after the reception – we thought this was the coolest thing!
What were two of your favorite moments from the day and why?
Kait : My favorite moment was seeing Will for the first time at the altar. I still get butterflies thinking about it! My second favorite moment was the ceremony itself. Will’s Aunt preached a beautiful message, we prayed with our closest friends and family, and his cousin played the saxophone. It was everything we dreamed of and more.
Will : My favorite moment was watching Kait walk down the aisle. She looked beautiful and I knew we were about to commit ourselves to each other for life in front of God, friends and family.
What advice would you give to couples planning their day? Relax and enjoy every moment together. Remember that you aren’t just planning for one day, you are planning for the rest of your lives together. When you keep that at the forefront of your planning, the small things don’t matter.
For the reception, Will got some great advice from his boss. He said “You and Kait will get pulled in different directions at the reception! Every 30 minutes, go find her so that you both can have the same experience.” Luckily, we didn’t have a huge wedding, so we were able to mingle together the entire night!
